Mission Statement:

Our commitment is to provide 24-hour confidential support, information and education.

Philosophy:

Our guiding philosophy is summed up in the two words "Listening" & "Empowering". We can help most people to find within themselves resources to deal with their problems and find direction in their own lives.

By talking with people at a critical point and assisting them with their immediate concern, we may be able to prevent such problems developing to a degree where they need more intensive help.

However, when a person needs or desires professional help we are a knowledgeable source of referral to all services and agencies in the North Okanagan.

  Who We Are

The Board

The CMHA Board of Directors is comprised of committed professionals and individuals from the community. Members of the Board support the quality of services and programs for the individuals and their families served in the North Okanagan. The Board's mandate includes planning the future direction of the association and ensuring the day to day operations are well managed through the Executive Director. CMHA has had a long history with the Crisis Line and provided support in the early years. Since 2009, CMHA has provided administrative and other support to PIN. The PIN Crisis Intervention Society was voluntarily dissolved at a special meeting on December 20, 2011.

From 1975 through to 2011, The People In Need Crisis Intervention Society as a registered non-profit society operated the Crisis Line and the Good Morning Program with a volunteer board of directors. Througout these years, the board consisted of many different individuals from the community. Members of the board supported the quality of the programs for the disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated persons and their families of the North Okanagan. The Board provided many hours of time fundraising and involvement in the management of senior staff, financial and personnel matters. There have been many individuals throughout these years who had passion and dedication and whose involvement made significant contribution to the excellent services provided to this day.
